However, due to certain features of the Transas ECDIS chart display algorithm, the overlapped part of TSS is not shown if “Show Outdated” is turned on.
The Show Outdated button in the ENC tab in the “Chart” Panel in the Transas Navi-Sailor ECDIS enables the display of all date-dependent objects in the ENC, irrespective of the current date.
Potential issue with display of time-dependent chart areas When a user enables the display of all time-dependent objects (as recommended in route planning mode), some areas of the Traffic Separation Scheme included in ENC may overlap.
For example, there are amendments to the existing traffic separation scheme, SUNK (TSS) EAST (NTM 3529(P)/2012), which came into effect as of December 1, 2012.
If “Show Outdated” is switched on, ECDIS should show both old and new TSS zones that partially overlap.
The software patch for fixing the “Time-dependent objects (TDO)” problem in Transas MFD 4000 ECDIS and Transas Navi-Sailor 3000 ECDIS-I is available to all Transas ECDIS users.
: Carnival Corporation's new world-class Center for Simulator and Maritime Training (CSMART) was officially opened in Almere, Netherlands today.
The CSMART is the largest facility in terms of training capacity and utilises the most innovative technology solutions from Transas.
Some ENC charts include objects which display depends on the current date.
Some objects, such as traffic separation schemes, may have a date when they are introduced or discontinued.
These objects are not normally displayed beyond their effective dates.
To enable effective route planning, look-ahead during route monitoring, or for other purposes, ECDIS allows the mariners to display chart data for any required date and time to review pre-planned changes in chart data.
